Photo Exhibition "Capital Punishment" Opens in Minsk
On October 7, at 6 p.m. the joint project of the photojournalist Siarhei Balai and the campaign "Human Rights Defenders Against Death penalty in Belarus" will be presented at the manor "Goliaths" (Valhahradskaya Street, 4a, metro station “Maskouskaya”).
Heroes of the photo project are Sviatlana Zhuk, Liubou Kavaliova, Tamara Seliun, Volha Hrunova and Tamara Chikunova – the mothers whose sons' lives were taken by the state under the guise of anti-human law.
Opening of the exhibition will be held with the participation of the author Siarhei Balai, Tamara Chikunova (one of the heroines of the project, who became an abolitionist activist after the shooting of her son) and representatives of the campaign "Human Rights Defenders against Death Penalty in Belarus". Guests of honor are Karel Schwarzenberg,Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and Milan Eckert, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic in Belarus.
The exhibition "Capital Punishment" is a part of the Week Against the Death Penalty in Belarus.
